Navigating capitalist expansion and climate change in pastoral social-ecological systems: impacts, vulnerability and decision-making

چکیده
The independent and synergic impacts of climatic change capitalist expansion may render pastoral social-ecological systems extinct. Climatic compromises rangelands, while economic development fosters conversion land into territories for expansion. Pastoralists’ institutions regulate decision-making to socio-environmental shape adaptive responses, enabling mobile livestock rearing using multiple grazing areas, households’ diverse income sources. These are characterized by flexibility, such as mixed individual-collective water tenure regimes. However, capitalist-led reduction land-based resources, the push privatization commodification hinder undermine pastoralists’ decision-making; ultimately creating challenges capacity. Research on compound effects expanding global economy climate is needed inform efforts constraining unregulated expansion, policies security. Research, practice, will improve adaptability resilience.

Global climate change is progressing and health impacts have been observed in a number of countries, including Australia. The main health impacts will be due to direct heat exposure, extreme weather, air pollution, reduced local food production, food- and vectorborne infectious diseases and mental stress. The issue is one of major public health importance. Adaptation to reduce the effects of cl...
